2013 Strides of Hope

We wish to thank all the walkers and runners who met together at Shoaff Park on a cool September morning to celebrate the sanctity of human life and to all those who sponsored one of these participants. We are also appreciative OF the 28 companies who financially contributed by making an underwriting pledge and the many businesses who made in-kind donations.

The turnout for this year’s Strides of Hope was great with over 350 walkers and 63 5K runners who also enjoyed a pancake & sausage breakfast donated by our local IHOP Restaurants. Strides of Hope is an annual event when people in our community can walk or run together for fun, exercise, and fellowship while supporting a ministry that makes a difference for Life. Every dollar raised through sponsor pledges and underwriting helps provide all of the free services given to those needing our help at one of our four locations. Our goal this year is $68,000 and so far we’ve raised about $60,003, so your contributions are still needed. UPDATE: Our Strides of Hope contributions have continued to rise. This could be a banner year if all sponsor pledges are fulfilled, and more!

The top fundraising team was Lutherans for Life who raised $6,535; followed up by Blackhawk Ministries Team who raised $3,145. We had 63 runners who competed in eight different categories, and this was the first year that we had winners for the top three places in all eight categories.  The race was timed by Timing Solutions, which allowed us to use computer chips for more accurate times, and runners were able to check their times at computer kiosks after the race.  We are looking forward to seeing the 5K race grow in the number of participants and in financial support of this vital ministry.

Please plan to join us next year on the 3rd Saturday in September when once again we’ll meet at Shoaff Park to walk, run, and celebrate Life by supporting this life-transforming ministry in our community.

Grand Prize:
The Grand Prize Drawing Winner of a Relax Package from Tranquil Touch Spa was LaDonna Ebler. Lutherans for Life was the winning team by raising $6,815!

2013 5K Run Results
It was a beautiful day for the 5K Run. We had 63 runners who competed in eight different categories! This was the first year that we had winners for the top three places in all eight categories! The race was timed by Timing Solutions, which allowed us to use computer chips for more accurate times. We had one runner that joked about the computer chips, “Those seconds are going to be important when I run the race in about 45minutes!” J Runners were able to check their times at computer kiosks then after the race. We are looking forward to seeing the 5K race grow in number of participants and in the amount that is raised!
